If you're using KDE, hit the K Menu button and go to System -> Configuration -> Configure X11 System (SaX2). After inputting your root password, you should find the resolution settings there. It would make me cry to see an 800x600 resolution on 24" LCD monitor. Thanx Jeff but I tried that in sax2 (I should have explained what I did better.) the monitor is not in database and if I set res to 1920x1200 the monitor sez no signal and I have to ctrl+alt+backspace to kill server. I am going to install 10.0 on my opteron 144 box with different graphics card 2day or 2morrow. Oops, forgot about that part. X-| But yeah, like Chuck said, if your monitor isn't listed just select the generic one. For LCD search the manufacturer list for "->LCD" then select your resolution on the right. Also, notice the extra tabs in that window. On a side note, for a generic CRT you would look for "->VESA" in the manufacturer list. - -- Jeff Hedley TC Networks, Inc. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDiNSzN7/CuNq7GE4RAs3HAJ4nYMMhAHNBx4hHdFAzowShvUzxKACgyHNN xYweCHJJtlLxcK7ceOrRcJg= =dDhc -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I've written a mini-Howto for the Dell 2405FPW, which is bascially the same panel. At least the modeline should work for DVI, it's a 60Hz reduced-blanking one with <155MHz clock speed (current consumer cards like the GeForce 6600 can do that without problems; my old 5600XT has some problems, which can be worked around). http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/dell2405fpw.html That's the way I get something useful out of the monitor. YaST knows a bit about the monitor, but even the name of the company is misspelled (it's not a "DEL" ;-). Hope you find this helpful. -- Bernd Paysan "If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/
