Hi, I forgot to mention 2 things 1 - with the original kernel from the Distro there was NO problem after kernel update problems were there 2 - using the 100 Mbit Intel card instead of the cards with the Marvell chip, the machine is running fine. Acer 1501LCe and I'm using a kernel.org 2.6.13 kernel. I can't remember if I did the kernel update in YOU after a recent hard disk crash and fresh install. The original build was on 9.1, then upgraded to 9.2 and later to 9.3, all updates using my kernel.org kernels.

Check the correct module "sk98lin" is loaded for the Marvel card. My laptop uses a Broadcomm BCM5788 chip, but the SuSE kernel used the wrong module which caused network stalls.
