Suse 9.2 CD1 64-bit installation
I have just experienced that 9.2 installation with CD1 on an Opteron box will only bring up the 32-bit mode. Is there a reason for that, and a way round this other than using a dvd drive? Thanks.

That's correct. The CDs are only 32-bit x86. You really have to use the DVD for a 64-bit installation... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux AG, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
I installed the 32-bit verson and booted it. Mounted the DVD on other machine and copied the whole 64-bit distribution over the network to a hard disk an the AMD. Then modified the boot menu to do the installation from the hard disk. Rebooted and it began installing from the HD. It worked, but I've skipped all the trials and errors before it finally did. When I needed to repeat the whole thing on two other amd boxes I bought DVD drives for them instead instead... /Lennart fredagen den 26 november 2004 17.29 skrev Chiu, PCM (Peter):
