Not sure if this well help, but have your verified the settings of LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable?

They are different...the root account did not have $LD_LIBRARY_PATH set but the user did. When i unset it on the user's env firefox worked! Thank you!!!...now I just need to find out which item in the path causes it. --ryan Corr, Thomas wrote:

I've been struggling with this for a while. I'm not sure why it's happening and a search on google doesn't reveal much.
I receive the following error when a normal user tries to run firefox:

Perhaps related I had something similar on Suse 9.3. When adding Matlab libraries to
$LD_LIBRARY_PATH all my icons were gone. When adding them to ldconfig instead (and thus taking
them of the $LD_LIBRARY_PATH) everything was back to normal. Never quite figured than one out....
