Via K8T800 and nvidia graphics
Hi, Has anyone got a VIA K8T800 chipset based mainboard (mine is an ASUS K8V SE) to work with nvidia based graphics (the closed source nvidia driver). The problem seems to lie with the 2.4 kernel as I can get it to work with a 2.6 kernel. I have tried with the latest SuSE kernel 2.4.21-201. If I can I want to run with a SuSE supplied kernel because of the easy upgrading. The Nvidia driver module loads fine but when I start X everything goes black. I can not switch out from X (crtl-alt F1 and so on), but the machine is accessible through ssh. This is a quite common chipset, so I would guess that someone has experienced the same problem. Best regards, Peter
try Option "NvAGP" "2" in your XF86Config-4 file. Tom# Peter Rundberg wrote:

Even NvAGP equal to 2 did not work for me, I had to use NvAGP equal to 1, which is definitely not optimal I would think. I am considering a compile to 2.6 kernel since that seems to be the fix. I think there may have been a 2.6 kernel floating around, but it does no good if it has issues with the via sata or anything else. Someone sent a message recently that they had apgart working on a 2.6.4 compiled kernel though, with minor compile issues I think. Search the archives for the last 10 days.
