Is there anywhere to get newer versions of Mozilla for 9.1 amd64 ? -- Ray
Hello, yes, I downloaded the 1.7 source and compiled it. It is actually surpisingly easy. Roughly: You configure the setup with the ./configure command. With the option --prefix you define where your compiled target should finaly be installed. Two other options are important: --enable-crypto allows your compiled browser to handle SSL connections and -enable-default-toolkit=gtk2 makes sure that mozilla uses the newer GTK2 toolkit instead of the old GTK1.x. The old one can lead you into a lot of dependency problems so I would not recommend this. All in all the configure line looks something like: ./configure --prefix=/whereveryouwant --enable-crypto --enable-default-toolkit=gtk2 Configure checks if all necessary components are installed on your machine. Afterwards you compile with a simple "make" and the final "make install" will install the browser at the place you defined in the --prefix option. If you are willing to try this then I can also offer to create a more detailed cookbook. Still, it was really easy. regards, einar Ray Carlino wrote:
