I have 2 amd64 installs and all was good until a few weeks ago I don't know the exact date.. But I can't use the double layer Suse dvd... When I browse it appears to show the contents but I can copy files off of the dvd I just get a i/o error. These are 2 different machines and using 3 different drives that all worked before.. If I boot from the suse dvd all is good I can copy and read the files -- Ray

I had that problem the other way round. The boot kernel on the DVD wasn't able to read the DVD on two DVD-ROMs in the office (only in 64 bit mode - the 32 bit kernel boots fine from the DVD). The DVD-RW drive at home did work fine. I then copied the whole DVD on the hard disk of one of the DVD-ROM office systems, and installed it from there (the first one from hard-disk, the second one via NFS). The running systems were able to access the DVD; I don't know if the problem came back with installing the latest kernel update. -- Bernd Paysan "If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/

What are the messages excactly? Can you look at the directory "media.1" and does the file contents look ok? Are you running the current SUSE Update Kernel? I cannot reproduce this on my system - just checked, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
