Problem with VMware and 2.6.8-24.16 kernel
When I run vmware-config.pl I get the following: make: Leaving directory `/tmp/vmware-config8/vmmon-only' Unable to make a vmmon module that can be loaded in the running kernel: insmod: error inserting '/tmp/vmware-config8/vmmon.o': -1 Invalid parameters There is probably a slight difference in the kernel configuration between the set of C header files you specified and your running kernel. You may want to rebuild a kernel based on that directory, or specify another directory. Any suggestions. I got the kernel-source with apt-get from ftp://ftp.gwdg.de SuSE/9.2-x86_64 Don
Under SuSE 9.2, pls apply the vmware-any-any patch. Under SuSE 9.3, I have no problems. regards, Andreas. --On Montag, 4. Juli 2005 16:11 +0000 donald.leslie@comcast.net wrote:

I tried vmware-any-any-update92 which reported : Updating /usr/bin/vmware ... No patch needed/available Updating /usr/bin/vmnet-bridge ... No patch needed/available Updating /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-vmx ... No patch needed/available Updating /usr/lib/vmware/bin-debug/vmware-vmx ... No patch needed/available VMware modules in "/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source" has been updated. Is there a specific version of any-any I should use ? Don
You should check whether kernel-source matches installed kernel: rpm -qa | grep kernel I had a few problems myself but everything worked out eventually: http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=15715&start=0&tstart=0 -m donald.leslie@comcast.net wrote:

I had already checked the versions . They are all 2.6.8-24.16 . Also I have run make in /usr/src/linux . This has worked for many kernel versions until now . Marcin Zalewski wrote:
