OK. I'm trying to build a program called Gramps on my SuSE 9.1 64bit system. I got through the first command "autogen.sh" without any errors. I even tried "linux32 sh ./autogen.sh" and it also ran without errors. I tried with and without running "./configure --enable-libsuffix=64" and it ran without any errors. However, when I run "make" or "linux32 make" I get the following errors: Making all in po make[2]: Entering directory `/home/steve/download/gramps-1.0.4/gramps-1.0.4/src/po' to-code=UTF-8 hu.po -o temp.po /bin/sh: line 1: to-code=UTF-8: command not found make[2]: [hu.mo] Error 127 (ignored) temp.po -o hu.mo make[2]: temp.po: Command not found make[2]: *** [hu.mo] Error 127 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/steve/download/gramps-1.0.4/gramps-1.0.4/src/po' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/steve/download/gramps-1.0.4/gramps-1.0.4/src' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 There aren't any errors before these, that I can tell. Did you do make clean and ./autogen.sh again after installing those packages?

The include path is missing: -I/opt/gnome/include/gnome-vfs-module-2.0, There might be some others, too. Best would be to install the gnome-devel selection with YaST.

I see what you mean, but can't figure out how to include it. I've tried CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/gnome/include/gnome-vfs-module-2.0" ./configure but it doesn't seem to work. How do I make it Include the path. I'm not a programmer, just a user. Thanks, Steve On Tue, 2004-07-13 at 07:54, Stefan Fent wrote:

I'm pretty sure you are still missing something, I didn't have to mess with any paths or flags to get it to compile last night once I got all the right packages installed. I did a make clean, then ./autogen.sh --enable-libsuffix=64 then make make install and it compiled clean. I see what you mean, but can't figure out how to include it. I've tried CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/gnome/include/gnome-vfs-module-2.0" ./configure
Did you install the Gnome development selection? (You are missing much more than only this Path.)
From Makefile: GNOMEINC = -pthread -DORBIT2=1 -I/opt/gnome/include/gnome-vfs-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/include/gnome-vfs-module-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/lib64/gnome-vfs-2.0/include -I/opt/gnome/include/bonobo-activation-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/include/glib-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/opt/gnome/include/orbit-2.0 GNOMELIB = -pthread -Wl,--export-dynamic -L/opt/gnome/lib64 -lgnomevfs-2 -lbonobo-activation -lORBit-2 -lgobject-2.0 -lgthread-2.0 -lm -lgmodule-2.0 -ldl -lglib-2.0
So you are probably missing the entire gnome configuration.

I was finally able to get it to build. I used the following line in the Makefile in the src directory: CFLAGS = -fPIC -shared -O -g -O2 -I${prefix}/include -I/opt/gnome/include/gnome-vfs-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/include/glib-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/opt/gnome/include/bonobo-activation-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/include/orbit-2.0 I ran the make install and it seemed to run fine. Now when I run "gramps" I get the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/share/gramps/gramps.py", line 80, in ? import gramps_main File "/usr/local/share/gramps/gramps_main.py", line 45, in ? import gnome.ui ImportError: could not import bonobo.ui All bonobo packages from the 64bit DVD are installed. I've decided to give up on getting this to run on 9.1 64bit. I still have my old 32bit system and using apt4rpm was able to install it on there. 3 days for en end user to install a program is much too long. I'm taking the easy way out for now. Thanks for all of the help, though, Steve On Wed, 2004-07-14 at 06:34, Stefan Fent wrote:

Most likely the 32bit rpm would have worked on the 64bit OS too. -Andi
