RE: [suse-amd64] need a Suse 9.2 amd64 boot CD
Hi, pull the boot.iso from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/9.2/boot/ or a mirror. That should give you what you are looking for. g -----Original Message----- From: Ron Lau [mailto:rlau@fueltechnv.com] Sent: 13 January 2005 16:56 To: suse-amd64@suse.com Subject: [suse-amd64] need a Suse 9.2 amd64 boot CD Anyone know where I can find a bootable 9.2amd64 CD so that I can install it (network install) on an AMD64 system that does not have a DVD drive? someone graciously made one for 9.1, but I forgot who. -- R. -- Check the List-Unsubscribe header to unsubscribe For additional commands, email: suse-amd64-help@suse.com
I found this page: http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/en/2004/12/dstark_am... and it says that: " Alternatively, you can copy all data except for the suse directory from the DVD to a directory on the hard disk, change to this directory, and burn a CD with the following command (replace dev=/dev/hdX and speed=Y with suitable values): mkisofs -J -r -l -no-emul-boot -b boot/loader/isolinux.bin -c boot/loader/boot.cat -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table . | cdrecord -v gracetime=2 dev=/dev/hdX speed=Y -dao driveropts=burnfree " so I did it and got: pyrrho:/data2/9.2bootcd> mkisofs -J -r -l -no-emul-boot -b boot/loader/isolinux.bin -c boot/loader/boot.cat -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table . | cdrecord -v gracetime=2 dev=/dev/cdrecorder -dao driveropts=burnfree cdrecord: No tracks specified. Yes, you didn't read cdrecord's diagnostic output and thought it would be faster to ask than to help yourself in less time than it took you to post... ;)) You need to tell cdrecord what it should burn, obviously it doesn't (no longer??) default to reading stdin when nothing is specified. As the cdrecord author is one of those noxious buggers who thinks things need to be done right, not uniformly, using a "-" mightn't work, try /dev/stdin in that case.
