Microswitches can wear out, too. You weren't entirely
clear about the symptoms. "Losing its grip" isn't
particularly descriptive.
In this case I meant it literally. In solitaire it has
trouble gripping the cards and often drops them midway in
the move.
One further question. Do I just plug the new mouse in,
or do I need to close things first?
USB human-interface devices are all plug-and-play. The
only thing that might need attention is the acceleration
settings.
