Hello Listmates,

I just installed ATI's new driver from
ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run and all I can say is "It's about
time!"

The resulting rpm generated installed without any heavy problems. My
glxgears went from avgeraging 2300-2400 to 4800-5200.

Can somebody confirm that the package is generated although "make" is not
installed, which leads to a lack of DRI, i.e. Xorg stating "(EE) fglrx(0):
atiddxDriScreenInit failed, GPS not been initialized." while starting.

Wouldn't it be a bug that building the package does not complain about the
missing make?

If only found it when running the fglrx-kernel-build.sh, which did complain.

Sven

Yes,

Our new ATI package maintainer is Bob Walmsley <bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
after
Sefan Dirsch moved to better things. Poor Bob, I hope he read the fine print.

Another error that I found terrifying with the 9-3 driver on my setup
was:

(EE) fglrx(0): Failed to allocate dynamic shared buffer!

That doesn't look good... I wonder why others are not seeing it as well?
