But did you actually call your ISP for help with the problem? You may
need to be persistent to get above the bottom-feeders who likely know
nothing about such things.

No, I haven't done that. I started having this problem in Dubai on this trip,
and it has continued in Singapore and here where I am at in Japan at this
moment. I knew by common sense that it had something to do with hackers who
commonly use international domiciles as their base for hacking. I just
wondered if there was an easy way around this to keep using Thunderbird. What
I do is to go to the website of my ISP, log in, and then send mail out from the
website. It just isn't as convenient as thunderbird, so I was trying to figure
a way around this. If I call the ISP I will do it when I get back from the
business trip I am on.
