I'm calibrating my crystal ball, ;-) so it will help to know if you use
openSUSE 11.1 Beta 1 or 2 and GNOME as a desktop.
If yes then:
Install kdm as login manager and then logout/login.
It should work.

I did say that I was using openSUSE 11.0 with KDE 4.1.2 desktop kde4-kdm is
installed already, but it does seem to have been a two day problem because
today YaST2 is working fine.
