I got a return authorization from Tiger Direct.
The Iomega eGo external 160 GB USB hard drive is going back.
I ordered a similar Western Digital and will report in a couple days.

So, maybe there is no electrical output in the usb port you are using and
you have to try all four. Or maybe you have to buy a two-headed usb cable
in your local store. Or maybe not. Sucess.
