What is the issue with the random crashing on openSUSE? I have 3
machines at home and all of them have issues of some sort:
Media PC: Crashes 2-3 minutes into watching a DVD with openSUSE 11.0.
I used to run this same exact system as my primary desktop with
openSUSE 10.3 and never had an issue with it.
Extra PC: This machine if you leave it alone for a while the monitor
indicates it is "sleeping" and I need to reboot it. Again, oS 11.0
New desktop PC: in the past month. after applying the latest updates,
seems to be pretty stable. But I was working on an OpenOffice doc just
now and the application crashed. Also on this PC it's not uncommon for
the keyboard to stop working BUT ctrl+alt+blkspc still work and when
the keyboard stops working reloading x server fixes the issues.
Another co-worker of mine reported the same issues I have on my
"extra" PC on his HP compaq nc6220 laptop. I have an identical machine
running openSUSE 10.3 (I'm afraid to upgrade, not due to these issues
but because I'm afraid to have to do a total reinstall) and it does
not have these issues. On all the machines besides my co-worker's I've
check out all the hardware and everything tests ok. Also running
Windows these machines don't have these problems. It's getting rather
frustrating. I use KDE 3.5 for all machines.
