Hi,

a sysconfig setting of DISPLAYMANAGER_STARTS_XSERVER=no seems to have
no effect: the local Xserver is started nevertheless.

In a similar thread (in the German mailing list), I have found the
recommendation to use runlevel 3 in this case. However, this does not
solve my problem as I want the display manager to grant *remote*
access (without additionally opening a local display).

Did I miss something?

Did you run SuSEconfig after making the change

The display manager config is one of the few places that still requires
SuSEconfig to run after the change, as this actually generates the
configuration file for the display manager

If that still doesn't help, you'll have to give more information. For example
which display manager you're using
