I'm using VMWare to remote use wintendo, where I have the vpn client loaded
and connected to my corprate network. I then am using remote desktop from
vmware to connect to my vista machine, where I'm using vnc to connect to my
suse server...

It needs a free dsp device when the server starts.
may be this is the problem.
I have some sort of bug in my machine, after some uses, mplayer says
"I can't open the /de/dsp". however the sound come out anyway
(frommplayer/linux), so I didn't invesitgate more, but this may block
vmware
need a reboot (shame)
That will always solve your problems! :P
