no, there are also some pentiums with 64bit.

that is correct.

as i said.
there are some pentium models that also support 64bit.
BUT!
pentiums can't be compared to core 2 duos.
core 2 duos are MUCH better/faster/energy-saving....
today, NEVER EVER buy a pentium or celeron.
i would say, that today you also should not buy a core duo.
core duos came months before core 2 duo, and also are not 64bit capable.
core 2 duo is the best choice you have today.

it is very simple:
a notebook with a 32bit cpu (regardless if pentium, celeron or core duo)
will run opensuse10.2 32bit.
a notebook with a 64bit cpu (regardless if 64bit-pentium or core 2 duo)
will run opensuse10.2 64bit.

i whould not recommend that.
intel-based notebooks with the "centrino duo" logo are supported MUCH
BETTER by opensuse10.2.
with these machines nearly EVERY hardware on it (bluetooth, wlan,
sd-card) will work out-off-the-box.
and today core 2 duos are much faster than Turion 64 X2.
both can run opensuse10.2 64bit.
both cost about the same.
but core 2 duos are faster, and centrino notebooks work better.
