I usually type in a terminal:
hdparm -d1 /dev/dvd
I find that it sticks for long periods but occasionally is lost. I have
not been able to figure out why it goes away sometimes. However, if I
see the DVD starts to play jerky, I just go to a terminal and issue the
above command again.
I agree with you that probably there is a config file that can store
this setting, but like you, I don't know where it is. If someone here
can post what file it is, that would be great.
