mpeg4 can be many things. DivX and xvid, for example
The trouble with xine on the 64 bit platform is a pain. As far as I've been
able to determine, you need to have the same bit-ness of the codec as the
xine GUI. In other words, if you're using a 64 bit GUI (xine-ui, kaffeine,
totem etc) then you need the 64 bit codec, and if you have a 32 bit GUI you
need the 32 bit codec
The bit-ness of libxine apparently doesn't matter. I have no idea why
