I just recently downloaded Leo Laporte video podcast. I would like to
play it. When I click on it, it states that Xine does not have the

The movie is suppose to be coded 624 codec, which is my understanding
mpeg4. I have suse 10.0, amd 64 bit version, xined loaded. Do you know
what else needs to be loaded? Do I have to run the 32 bit version? If so
how do I do it?

mpeg4 can be many things. DivX and xvid, for example

The trouble with xine on the 64 bit platform is a pain. As far as I've been able to determine, you need to have the same bit-ness of the codec as the xine GUI. In other words, if you're using a 64 bit GUI (xine-ui, kaffeine, totem etc) then you need the 64 bit codec, and if you have a 32 bit GUI you need the 32 bit codec

The bit-ness of libxine apparently doesn't matter. I have no idea why

I agree with you. It seems that the codec needs to match the interface. The problem is to fine the codec and to make sure that you start with the correct xine. In the 64 bit version, both the 32 and 64 bit are loaded on the system. I have no ideal how to access the correct one.
