I think you're missing the point here..... totally.

I don't love vi... I don't exactly hate it either because I DO NOT normally
use it.

I know just enough about vi to change a line and file the file... or not file
it. Heck, I don't even know how to delete a line... since what little I use
vi I don't need that very often and if I do I'll just hold down the delete
key for awhile.

But it is a TOOL... and it is ALWAYS available... and as such it is
INDISPENSABLE.
