Yes, but that only serves to watch TV. What I want is watch, save, perhaps
at some point stop watching while continuing saving, then watch from the
point I left while continuing saving non stop what is being transmitted at
the same time.

That is what MythTv does, I'm told. It does more than what I want, it is a
pain to configure, but it appears to do the job.
