I use an Epson R200 which has a similar problem on occasion. Although I
haven't been able to find out why I have had some success in fixing it.
First thin is to disconnect the usb cable then power off the printer.

Next I fire up the Printer viewer kPrintJobs and delete any jobs that may
still be there.
Then I open CUPS via the browser and Select Printer Manage and check Printer
State which should be "accepting jobs" if it isn;t I then Stop Printer and
the Start Printer.

Now I connect the printer back up and turn it on.

Finally I click "Print Test Page" on the CUPS browser where you did the Select
Printer Manage. If it prints to the printer you're home free. If it fails,
then I go into Yast Printer and do the advanced to reinstall cups which
usually fixes whatever is left to get fixed.

Not a real nice way to fix it but it works a little better than hanging
chicken bones over the computer, although it's not quite as fast.

This little problem has been haunting me for several months and I've yet to
find anyone who can/will tell me why it happens.

Best of luck,
Richard
