Good point, its only dependencies in that area are gtk2 [and its dep's]
and orbit2 (for the GConf daemon), but given the files are simple XML,
they can easily be accessed by anything.

Couldn't agree more - would rock if (for example) KDE apps respected the
GConf key for default browser, etc etc etc...
