Why not run Solaris on it?

Is there a 64-bit x86-64 Solaris that runs on AMD64 machines? AFAIR
the Sun Fire is such a machine...

Sun certifies SLES9 on it, but that's a bit on the
old side.

Are there any known features that aren't supported?

Has anyone done this?

Any feedback on a possible load like this?

Should work - but with SLES you get a longer lifetime (7 years instead
of 2), maintenance, certifications etc. If you don't need those, you
can try 10.0,

Andreas

Yeah, certs and maintenance such aren't required.

I was more interested in finding out if the box had any oddball hardware like an AIC7902 that only has closed source support for the host raid functionality.
