Motherboard/processor recommendations?

I am considering an upgrade to my system and have been recommended the
following motherboards and processor:
motherboards:
EPOX EP-8KHA+ (cheaper)
ABIT KG7-RAID (better?)
processor:
AMD ATHLON XP 2000+
These were recommended by someone who does not run Linux so I am asking
here to see if anyone has any comments or warnings from a Linux/SuSE
perspective.
I don't think I care too much about the raid since I will be moving my
SCSI adapter and drives from my current system.
Also, any recommendations about memory? I see the following listed as
possibilities:
DDR 266mhz 64x64 PC2100 non-parity Unbuf DIMM 2.5v DDRAM (cheaper)
DDR 64x64 PC266 non-parity Unbuf DIMM 2.5v CL2.5 (better?)
The second choice is about $43 more. What is the advantage?
Any info appreciated!
