If I read the arguments right, the basic consensus is that waiting
this long into the distro rollout roadmap to pick a final version
number is a bad idea.

I argue that although waiting until this point in the roadmap was the
agreed on plan for 11.4 / 12.0 a different strategy needs to be used
in the future.
