Hello Mates,

freemedforms and freediams are not usable atm. The Author says, that a
better Version comes soon.

Hi all,

Nice to see there is some life in this project. There is no dedicated distro
for the medical market as far as I know.

This could change however as soon as the big vendors find out that VA Vista
can be sold :-)

Anyway. In order to be successful this project should get in touch with
potential users and evaluate what they want from a distribution.

Doctors usually care little about the technology as long as it works. A nicely
configure desktop which is stable , secure and easy to work with together with
a decent browser will mean a lot to them.

But it needs to run their favorite electronic medical record application. Find
out what their EMR is and if it can be run on openSUSE (even with the help of
Virtualization) and you are in a good position.

Team up with the guys from Openpc and provide a nice set of hardware
suggestion (i.e. IBM Thinkpads with fingerprint readers, sheetfed scanner from
Avision) and you will speed thing up quite a bit.

I know this project is about software but I reason we won't get to switch
doctors EMR apps anytime soon. First switch them to FOSS, then team up with VA
Vista guys and then you are *the* linux medical distribution.

Just my 2cents from experience with the GNUmed project.

Sebastian
