Trying to do it manually in YAST leads to huge dependency issues. So,
I'm wondering if the situation with KDE repos needs some rationalising,
as I can't imagine how a normal user would cope with the number of
choices. This NOT a dig at anyone, or just me moaning, just an attempt
to start a helpful discussion.

If you still don't understand the quite simple distinction between STABLE,
Factory and Unstable repos - after all the explanations on the mailinglist
and wiki page, how should anyone further discussion help you?

And regular users don't have this problem - cuz they don't fsck with it. MS
Windows users don't upgrade their DE every few months, Mac OSX users don't do
it, GNOME users don't do it (cuz backporting new GNOME versions isn't feasible
anyway) - and apart from a small segment of version whores - KDE 4.3.x users
don't do it either.

Cuz there's no need to - not anymore - in 4.0 and 4.1 days it might have made
some sense for casual users, but not anymore. Now it only makes sense if
you're a fanboy or an enthusiast or wish to help test stuff. And if you're in
these categories of users you should be able to manage some repos and
packages.

If you want help cleaning your repos list, post your 'zypper lr -d' here.
