My KNode crashes _are_ with the Factory repo though.

Confirmed! Opensuse-11.1 kde-4.2 from factory repo.
Bye.

And this with old settings from kde-4.1. On another PC, the
settings window (Settings->Configure knode) is completely empty !
Weird.. Bye.

I had that problem with Kopete. I opened the settings and the window
appears with no widgets, just a grey window with a border. I logged
out and logged back in and that problem went away.

Have you tried making a dummy user account and seeing if knode
crashes in that account? If it doesn't, then there may be some rogue
file or setting somewhere inside your ~/.kde4 or ~/.kde directory
that is causing the problem. If knode works fine in the dummy user
account, you may want to consider renaming the ~/.kde4 directory in
your main user account to ~/.kde4_bak and then logging in as that
main user. You will loose all your settings and probably your email.
But you should be able to import most of those things from the
~/.kde_bak directory. I recently had to do this because plasma kept
dying on me when I logged in. Renaming the .kde4 directory resolved
that problem.

Hi Alvin,
this is the situation:
on my main PC, user with old settings from opensuse 11.0 and kde-4.1.*
Knode crashes sending message, widget are ok.
With a new user, knode keep crashing if called stand-alone but works if
used from inside kontact!

On my test PC, same opensuse and kde (both 32bit), widget issue :(

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95916
it seems an old bug...

Bye.

P.S. sorry for my bad english :)

Ok, I think that's where we differ. I use Kontact as I tend to have both Kmail
and Knode open at the same time. Using Kontact just makes this easier for me.

I'm not sure what the problem could be with Knode when it's run outside of
Kontact. Sorry.

Alvin
