I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this but in order to get quotes (single or double) I have to press the key twice. Eddie

I had the exactly same problem which was fixed by changing the keyboard variant from 'intl' to 'basic' in yast/hardware/keyboard layout.
I tred that (the setting in yast) and it didn't work (was already set to basic) but it did give a springboard to other ideas. Eventually, I realised the problem. In the KDE control centre I had enabled the UK (intl) keyboard layouts. I removed the setting from there and it worked. I can even reproduce the problem now, at will, just by selecting the UK (intl) layout. Thanks very, very much Eddie
