I updated my KDE to the latest on SUSE's ftp site. Including amaroK 1.2. Everything generally is running fine, except amaroK. It will start up OK, I can set a playlist and start it playing. It will play for a while (2-3 minutes) and then quit. The playlist window freezes, and is totally unresponsive. Rebooting does not help. Anybody seeing similiar behavior? Any advice? Thanks

Yes, Craig, I found it particularly uncooperative as well. I ended up dropping back 2 build numbers to get a reliable running version of it. I also found a 1.2 final version on the .guru site which worked better too, so I suspect that SuSE will have a new version before very long that works better. Amarok goes thru it's ups & downs quite often it seems. It's rather frustrating to deal with sometimes, but it's a very good program too. later, Lee -- --- KMail v1.7.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Sign at college bookstore: Accepted at more colleges than you were--VISA

Hi :) 1) Run amarok from console by starting "amarokapp". You should get some debug-output that might hint to the error. 2) Look around at the forum at amarok.kde.org, perhaps post your debug-output. 3) As far as I know, the newest rpms from SuSE are amaroK-1.2-beta4. 1.2-final has already been released, but I haven't found rpms yet. You might think about updating by compiling it yourself - there's a how-to at the amaroK homepage. Works fine for me (9.2, kde 3.3.91 (beta1)) Good luck :) Felix

Guru's SuSE rpm site has the latest version rpms: http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Sound/amarok (it's linked also from amarok's download page) It is always in my bookmarks, a very useful site. On a side note though, the latest build seems to mangle the font encodings, showing greek (iso-8859-7) as something that looks like arabic. This is the first time I see something like this, choosing the correct encoding displays the wrong charset! Chris
