Right Way To Add Item To Kmenu?

What's the right way to add new items to the kmenu on 8.2? I've followed the instructions in the support database and in Help, but my new entries don't appear in the menu. However, they do show up in the kmenu editor. Meanwhile, none of the submenus in kmenu are visible from the editor. Is this per normal? Thanks.

Hallo ich habe mir aus dem KDevelop die letzte CVS geholt und compiliert... geht auch soweit alles gut :-) Nur wenn ich es jetzt starten möchte, dann kommt folgende Fehlermeldung: gideon: relocation error: gideon: undefined symbol: _ZN14QextMdiMainFrm9m_mdiModeE Weiss jemand rat oder soll ich auf die nächste CVS warten?? Problems with compiling kdelibs3-3.1.4-15.src.rpm

Hi, at first, I want to exmuse me, for all, what I will do wrong, this is my first mail to a mailing-list. And: I know, my english is not very good ;) KDE 3.1.4 is running fine on my PC (Celeron 600, 384 MB RAM, SuSE 8.2). I only updated KDE from the "supplementary"-directory from ftp.suse.com. Then, I tried to play a little bit with src.rpms and wanted to compile kdelibs3-3.1.4-15.src.rpm (target=i686). I think, the needed devel-packages are installed. (qt3-devel and so on). The packages seemed to build correctly, but at the end of the spec-file, the command: "cp -a apidocs/qt $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/$KDEDOCDIR" resulted in an error. The file or directory "apidocs/qt" didn't seem to exist. If I understand the comments correctly, this is only needed for Kdevelop, which I don't plan to use. I think, I can comment this line out, but I'm wondering why it doesn't work "out of the box". Does anyone know, what went wrong? Thanks for your suggestions! Christoph Weidmann

konqueror as browser doesn`t work

Hello folks, I'm using SuSE 8.2 with Konqueror 3.1.3 (KDE 3.1.3) as browser. Since a few days I receive an error message from Konqueror when clicking a link on a web page. As an example: During loading http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/bo-16.08.03-001/ an error occured. File or folder http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/bo-16.08.03-001/ does not exist. (Sory for the translation, but my native language is German :o) ) After pressing the button 'Reload page' the page is loaded without problems. Anyone an idea what's going on there ? Regards Heinrich

Hello I am using Kmail and Mozilla, I have configured the KDE file association for HTML with an appropriate mozilla command: mozilla -remote openurl(%u,new-tab) so that when I click on a URL in an email Mozilla displays the page. Mozilla is happy with this, the page comes up OK, so far so good. My problem is kde pops up a window titled "Loading in Progress". It looks like both Mozilla and this pop up window are downloading independent copies the page ? Any ideas ?

Aspell problem solved.

I am posting this on the suse-KDE list because I couldn't find a more appropriate English SuSE list. I wanted to get aspell working after installing aspell through SuSE 8.2 Personal. My problem was: apsell-en was not installed. In fact aspell-en (English dictionary) is not included with the installation CDs. Other languages are but not English. I found aspell-en by doing a web search: http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/suse/updates/8.2/i386/rpm/i586/aspell-en-0.51.… I hope that this post helps others having a similar problem with aspell not working and prompts the bods at SuSE to include aspell-en on future SuSE distributions.

?? NEWBIE QUESTIONS: Auto Power Down and Mouse Cursor Size??

Hi all, I am trying to move from Windows to SuSE and I'm seeing some things I was hoping someone could explain. First, I am brand new to Linux -- only a few days now. I'm running SuSE 8.2 Personal w/KDE. My machine is new and it's ACPI compliant. I'm finding that if left alone for a while (I don't know exactly how long), the machine seems to power itself down automatically. I'm trying to prevent this behavior. I have gone into "Control Center | Power Control | Display Power Control" and I made sure that all three options ("Standby after", "Suspend after" and "Power off after") were disabled. I even tried clearing the "Enable display power management" checkbox but nothing seems to help. The machine always seems to power down on its own. The second question I wanted to ask is, how can I make my mouse cursor larger? There is an option, in the "Control Center", I believe, for "Peripherals | Mouse | General | Large Cursor" but that seems to have no effect. The cursor is always small, even after re-boot. If anyone can offer some suggestions I would be very grateful. Thanks. Tony

mouse not working

I am a new Suse user. I use to use Redhat. I just installed Suse 8.2 via a nfs installation. During the installation my mouse was working but not when I boot it doesn't. I gointo KDE but no mouse. I checked the modules and usbcore , hid, input, mousedev are all there but most are saying not being used. It is a usb mouse. I hav tried to plug in a ps2 though and it doesn't work either. Any ideas??
