All, I've been occasionally using my laptop today and 3 or 4 times, as I'm working with firefox, it just logs me out. Is this a known bug? Or am I the lucky one. note: I did enable the 11.3 packman repo recently, so it could be something I brought in from there. [opensuse-factory] KDE live CD (build 0694) broken

I've been trying to get the KDE live CD ot cooperate in VirtualBox for some reviewing and the .iso just seems busted. I can neither get to the default KDE4 desktop nor execute an installation with the CD (there's an error creating partitions, the exact error I don't have handy at the moment). Wondering what steps I should be following to get a corrected Live CD built? Cheers, -R. I keep getting a message when starting firefox as user about an instance of firefox already running but not responding. Hi: In my workstation, the following odd situation happends with 11.3 Sometimes it randomly freezes. 1) Keyboard does not respond. 2) Sounds continue playing as normal 3) mouse only moves correctly 4) The desktop enviroment, looks fine, but clicking on the mouse makes no action whatsoever. 5) screen gets minimally garbled randomly in the right corner. I use an nvidia video card with the noveau driver. there is no evidence in the logs whatsoever. question is, where I can start looking ?

Hi, I have the feeling that bug #619790 is a little bit more widespread then the info shows. I have installed RC2 on an x86_64 arch and when konqueror (sysinfo:/) opens (just open "My Computer" on KDE4) and I click on any item under "Disk Information", be it root (/) or a mounted ntfs drive it comes up: "There is no application installed that can open files of the block device (inode/blockdevice). Do you want to try to install one? Do not ask again Install No" When accessing the folders in the "Common Folders" section there is no trouble accessing the respective mount points. I am not sure if I am the only one having this problem. Hello list, I try to install 11.3 RC2 in HP Mini 311, Intel Atom N280, with Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g. Using KDE Live CD, YaST stop at 41%. Try ctrl+alt+f1 to see what happen in the text mode cannot work also. Try to install it from DVD, Installation went ok. But when I reboot it, the boot process stop after loading b43-pci-bridge. I can see it when selecting failsafe in grub. If so, GPT support for data drives should have been in openSUSE for a long while now. (ie. maybe 11.1) and it not working is clearly a bug somewhere along the line. Possibly specific to the drive. As to GPT boot drives, obviously that requires a EFI compliant system. And EFI/GPT booting support I know nothing about. The link you provided describes SLED / SLES installs with elilo as the boot manager, so I doubt it applies to openSUSE. As far as I know openSUSE installs are currently grub 1.x based only, and I'd be surprised if grub 1.x supports EFI/GPT boots. Not sure about grub 2. [opensuse-factory] A couple probs after a clean install of 11.3 RC2 (build 0694)

I just did a clean install of RC2 (build 0694) on a laptop... reformatted the install partition, and wiped all former openSUSE user accounts and home dirs off the /home partition.... so nothing old should be lurking to get in the way and influence the install. - WiFi - detected my SSID (WPA2), but after entering my password, it could not connect. Log out and log in was necessary to get it to work. - KDE Update Applet - it thinks that the laptop is running on battery. I've unplugged power and KDE pops up the standard notifications that the power has been unplugged, Plug it back in and get the KDE notifications of power being attached. The KDE Update applet is always greyed out and when I click it, it complains that I'm on battery and that it doesn't want to search for or apply updates etc. Otherwise it's working better than RC1. When I plug my usb stick I have no trouble mounting/umounting it but it seems that is not being automounted by KDE as it was on 11.2. I've checked that the required options under Removable Devices on System Preferences are enabled. Should I tweak something on HAL configuration? [opensuse-factory] Packman and VLC missing in repo list

I wanted to add packman via YaST, but there is no entry for the packman repo, vlc and ATI/Nvidia-Drivers are also missing. Will they work for/after the release? Im using RC2 and iirc Packman was still there for RC1. I'am running 11.3RC1 on an Acer Aspire one D250 and I 'am using Knetworkmanager to setup my UMTS connection. This works fine in most cases but in about one of four times the KNetworkmanager applet shows "Netwerkverwaltung deaktiviert" ( translated : networkmanagement disabled) after a suspend to disk - resume cycle. After a reboot it works again as expected. Hello, I installed OPENSUSE 11.3 RC1 x86_64 successfully on a DELL precision T1500 RAID system. After upgrading to RC2 with "zypper ref && zypper dup" the system does not boot anymore. The error messages are: RAID set isw_bacaiaeaja_Volume0 was activated The dynamic shared library "libdmraid-events-isw.so" could not be loaded: libdmraid-events-isw.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Trying manual resume from /dev/mapper/isw_bacaiaeaja_Volume0_part6 resume device /dev/mapper/isw_bacaiaeaja_Volume0_part6 not found (ignoring) Trying manual resume from /dev/mapper/isw_bacaiaeaja_Volume0_part6 resume device /dev/mapper/isw_bacaiaeaja_Volume0_part6 not found (ignoring) Waiting for device /dev/mapper/isw_bacaiaeaja_Volume0_part7 to appear ....... It's not very important (at least for me), but could be if one wanted to use a script I have an USB 1.5TB HDD . [opensuse-factory] shutdown/restart in gnome returns to login when using kdm on 11.3 RC2

Hi, this is my first post and maybe this isn't a bug, and i'm doing something wrong amd i'm making a fool out of myself, so this is what i'm trying to understand: I install both gnome and kde 4 on an x86_64 machine with the 11.3 RC2. But i had this problem in 11.2 as well if my memory serves me correctly. The displaymanager is kdm. when i log in using the gnome windowmanager and want to reboot or shutdown the computer, it puts me back to kdm with the login prompt. Hello, Please can any tell me the procedure to change the console resolution. My Problem is the graphic resolution in the console, I can't read this small letter. All my changes have no effect? All, I was just looking at the wiki entry for the coming upgrade: http://wiki.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade In the 11.1 => 11.2 upgrade the wiki page showed something like: disable all repos add new repos zypper up zypper zypper dup In the current wiki page, the "zypper up zypper" command is gone. Is it not recommended to get zypper from 11.3 prior to doing the full zypper dup? [opensuse-factory] RFT: upgrade from 11.2 to M7 via wagon

All, in addition to "zypper dup", "yast2 wagon" is a supported dist upgrade path. (Or it was for 11.1 to 11.2) I don't have a 11.2 machine I want to move to factory right now, so I tried to upgrade a test machine from M3 to M7 via "yast2 wagon" and it segfaulted half way thru. (wagon is a gui tool to handle "yast2 dup") see http://en.opensuse.org/Wagon https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613820 The wagon version from 11.3 M3 first upgraded itself to M7 and then started the actual distribution upgrade. I don't know if the version in 11.2 does that or not. Since Wagon is a supported upgrade tool, it really needs to work before the general release, but I don't have a good way to test it. I marked the bug major, but if it also occurs with 11.2, I think it should be critical. And if it doesn't then likely it is just a normal bug for 11.3 at this point. Note: I'm not the author.
