Hello all , if installed the openSuSE10.2 RC1 to checkout the current status of belgium-eID support . durring test i found following problems : - problems with ACR38 pcsc driver searching in /proc/bus/usb , this seems to be fix in a update at the factory package => pcsc-acr38-100705_Ppcsc-acr38-100705_P-37-37 will this go into the OpenSuSE 10.2 GM ? - the eID-belgium tools don't work because there looking for /usr/lib/libpcsclite.so which doesn't exist , only libpcsclite.so.1 and libpcsclite.so.1.0.0.0 , fixed this by adding addional symlink => reported as Bug 225652 - the beid-pkcs11-register.html don't work because it sets the library to /usr/local/lib/libbeidpkcs11.so but the file is located at /usr/lib/pkcs11/libbeidpkcs11.so => reported as Bug 225653 from this point , i got the firefox extenstion working , beid tools are working and i can read the cert using the opensc pkcs15-tool command. question: will this be fixed with an update ? luc --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help(a)opensuse.org

I just booted in order to update to the latest factory ftp tree. I opened YaST to check and see which installation source was set, because I already found out that my usual mirror is out of sync. Couldn't do it. zypp-updater was running and preventing access to the DB. So, I killed zypp-updater and tried again. Now Yast is stuck downloading God only know what files, when all I wanted to know was what installation source was set. [opensuse-factory] wine and picasa

I wanted to ask if anyone could take a look at running Google's picasa under wine for me. The latest windows version used to run fine under 10.1, same with google's rpm of the linux version, but now under 10.2 RC1 neither work and I'm not sure if it's just here, or if everyone has this problem. Hello Y'all. I sure hope that the gmane stuff will be working 100% soon. Due to the changes in patterns and another tool I will talk about below, I have a new version of makeSUSEdvd to be tested. It is available at http://houghi.org/Fun/makeSUSEdvd.gz First I must thank David Bolt for his time and effort. The main changes are that now both Packman and Guru are added as an option to be added. This will make installation later of certain software easier. I am unsure if I should add those as OPTIONALURLS or as EXTRAURLS. Any feedback on this is welcome The second main change is more technical and was available in versions for 10.1 as well. It will add the pattern 'Personal' to the installation, so that if you use e.g. `makeSUSEdvd -a /usr/src/packages/RPMS` these will be added. Obviously it is easier to just download the DVD. However sometimes you might want to add programs that are not included and still have it all on one CD. If you want to distribute SUSE based DVDs as descibed on http://en.opensuse.org/Making_a_SUSE_based_distribution you can now also remove Novell and SUSE branding with rembrand: http://repos.opensuse.org/home:/jnweiger/SUSE_Factory/repodata/ (latest version now is 1.1b-7.1) That tool removes all branding, like wallpapers, backgrounds and so on. So if you want to make your own branded DVD that includes e.g. your schools logo and some extra software for your school, you do the following: 1) makeSUSEdvd -i -a /usr/src/packages/RPMS This can be done with CD1-3, CD1-5, CD1-6 or the DVD. It will put a temporary data in /tmp/CD_DIR and add all the RPMs in the (sub-)directories of /usr/src/packages/RPMS 2) run rpm-rembrand on the rpm files in /tmp/CD_DIR with e.g. find and see that all the files are save in e.g. ~/files. 3) Edit all the files in ~/files as you please or leave them blank or whatever 4) run rpm-rembrand and see that the newly made RPMs end up overwriting the files in /tmp/CD_DIR 5) Edit anything else that you need to edit in /tmp/CD_DIR according to http://en.opensuse.org/Making_a_SUSE_based_distribution 6) run `makeSUSEdvd -C` to make the ISO 7) burn and install 8) have fun. I have net yet tested step 3, so all I had were some white icons and wallpapers. There is a ticket open for this: 225146 So please give some feedback on the new makeSUSEdvd, both testing and wether Packman an/or Guru should be default or optional. If you want a DVD that just adds the Packman and Guru URLs, just run makeSUSEdvd over the downloaded DVD you have. Some testing and feedback on rembrand would also be apriciated. Files that were missed or any other ideas would be nice. The problem was not the kernel or initrc.. But than it entered the commandline install instead of the graphic one, (this might also be something else, because from CD, it also told me to less space for graphic install, So i must have hit the 'too less room' bug) and it did not find the install files, what ever i entered at the commandline would be wrong..(so i must test this option again without the TLR bug...) After 10 or 11 entrances, i gave up, bought new CD's, and burned them, after downloading the files on another PC, because that has the burner, and the network was not up.... But a day later i installed from CD's again... I would realy love to get that option right, saves time, effort and money. Besides that, it is cool to have the files on HDD, so these can be used instead of allways put the CD or DVD in the drive.. YaST-utils is allready standard part of the install... Pointing to the iso via YaST, does not realy work.. [opensuse-factory] Kontact- Calendar-import

When I trie to import std.ics from my suse10.0 with kde3.5.5 all events are shown one hour later in opensuse 10.2. Does this have something to do with the change to European "Wintertime"? Both 10.0 and 10.2 use local time, the clock shows the right time, and is updatet by ntp. Is there a configuration option or anything else I can do to correct this. I did not find a bug that seems to relate with this, can anybody confirm this behaviour? By the way, I´ve got most of my all Day apps configured nearly to the state of my standard system, including multimedia from additional sources, and the overall impression I got is quite good. I just stumbled over some cosmetic things like translations of the Dialogs, where Buttons don´t have exactly the same name as help-texts e.g. in some yast-modules. I´m really looking forward to 10.2. Hi, Perhaps i'm just too eager... latest release notes of the 2.6.19 kernel indicated official support for GFS (which looks promissing). Unfortunately, the official kernel was released much too late to be used in 10.2. Seeing the truckload of patches in the releas-notes of 2.6.19 (3.6MB) and the version in factory (kernel-source-v2.6.19_rc3-16.6.src.rpm ) it's not clear what made it, and what is still pending. I wonder when i can experiment with it.. (kernel-patch) It's been a longe time, that i was persueing latest kernels, but this seems to be worthwhile, imho. Since upgrading to the latest kernel, 2.6.18.2-33 I can no longer run my CXO programs I.E. Quicken. I get the following error when launching the program: wine: failed to initialize: /opt/cxoffice/lib/wine/ntdll.dll.so: failed to map segment from shared object: Cannot allocate memory Is this something being caused by the latest kernel update? [opensuse-factory] Still no config options for zmd log?

I just looked over zmd in 10.2, but I still can't find a way to reconfigure the logging to zmd-messages.log. Obviously it rotates every day, but doesn't compress. I thought I was imagining things. KInfoCenter is a 2 pane panel with various types of information selectable in the left pane that displays in the right pane. In various distros, those types take the form of applets that are separately selectable via the monitor section of the KDE system menu. My 10.0 is one that provides the separate applets. My upgrades of factory to RC3 or whatever is there now do not, providing only KInfoCenter in the monitor menu. I just went to upgrade another box from an earlier factory with the 2.6.18.2-31 kernel. In my recently used applications menu is the X-Server applet, which I can open as described, to the individual applet. However, in the system monitor menu is only the KInfoCenter option, not the individual applets, which means somewhere along the way in factory recently some configuration changed. Why did this happen? How or what can I reconfigure so that the KDE system monitor menu offers the individual applets instead of KInfoCenter? -- "Let your conversation be always full of grace." [opensuse-factory] Can't not install OpenOffice or Beagle

I installed from ftp mirror 3 times in past 2 days. Twice I tried to speed up the install by deselecting OpenOffice.org. The first time I tried that I searched for OpenOffice.org and deselected that and the other 3-4 selected that contained OpenOffice. After that failed, the next time I searched for office, and deselected every package that contained that word. That too resulted in OpenOffice.org being installed (7 packages total with OpenOffice_org in their names). How does one not install OpenOffice.org? Same with beagle. I searched for beagle and deselected everything containg that word, but still I have beagle and libbeagle installed. -- "Let your conversation be always full of grace." Hi, I'm stressing this here as time is approaching quickly for GM, and I would like to have a 10.2 where my application[1] doesn't crash. ;-) https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223794 It has a patch attached - suggested by the imagemagick developers - , but wasn't even commented by a suse guy yet. :-( Please review and if possible, include it. Hello, I only want to thank you for the good work on openSUSE 10.2. I hadn't much time to test, so I've made my first installation with Beta2 and start then, rebuilding my Packman packages. All bugs I've found where allready reported in bugzilla and as far as I can see, are fixed in factory now (I've updated last night). RC1 upgraded (with smart) with all the latest files as of 1 hour ago. Selecting Configure Desktop>Appearance & Themes>Screensaver terminates RC1 and sends it back to the logon menu (Name/Password). Same results with 4 attempts. Hi, I reported a bug I found about playing VCD's: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221144 I am not able to play a VCD here. The same hardware had no problem with 10.1 There was no activity on this bug yet, probably because I did not make it critical. [opensuse-factory] 10.2: OK, but some Bugs

Hello together, I have installed 10.2 RC1 on my system and the first I have to say: after 10.1, installing 10.2 is really a relief for an admin's nerves. Nearly everything has been running smoothly, apart from the usual problem that after the GRUB update, GRUB does not boot anymore, and I have to manually "cp /usr/lib/grub/*stage* /boot/grub ; grub --batch < /etc/grub.conf". Thanks for that. But still some things need to be fixed: 1.) OK, it would be nice if someone could acklowledge if there really is a GRUB update bug (see above) since God knows when, or if I am doing something wrong. 2.) xfsprogs really should be updated to 2.8.16, because there are severe bugs 2.8.11: some errors are not corrected by xfsrepair 2.8.11, so there are latent inconsistencies, which e.g. strike at you when you perform an xfsdump 3.) as I pointed out in an earlier mail wrt SUSE 10.1, rpc.idmapd should start AFTER nfsserver starts. Still this has not been corrected. Furthermore, there is a loop in the startup file headers: the nfsserver script has a "should start: idmapd" line, and the idmapd script has s "sould start: nfsserver" line. The former dependency should be removed.
